As I sat in the room, a silence grew loud,
The grief in the air felt heavy and proud.
A weight in the chest, too thick to ignore,
A pain in the heart that shakes to the core.
Though I may not have known them like you,
The ache in your eyes told stories so true.
The tears that fell didn’t need words to explain,
Loss leaves a mark, a soul-deep stain.
I saw the stillness, the memories flood,
The mix of joy and sorrow in the same blood.
Laughter lit corners with moments you knew,
But sadness, like shadows, quietly grew.
Some stood in silence, some spoke their pain,
Some whispered stories again and again.
Grief has no timeline, it flows its own way,
One minute you’re smiling, the next you can’t stay.
The chair sits empty, the space feels wide,
You carry their memory deep inside.
Though the world spins on like nothing has changed,
Your life feels paused, broken and rearranged.
I won’t say the days will get easy or light,
But some days will soften, and feel a bit right.
A breeze may carry a scent from the past,
A song may play, and the memories last.
So I pray for your heart, for strength to stand,
When your world feels shattered and slipped through your hand.
May peace find you gently, may comfort stay near,
May love wrap around you and silence the fear.
Heavy-hearted, yes—but still you breathe,
Still you rise, and still you grieve.
You won’t forget, and that’s okay,
But hope will visit you one day.
And when it does, let it in slow,
Let it sit with you in the ebb and flow.
Grief is love that has nowhere to go,
So hold it close, and let healing grow.
