One of the things I’ve learned through Pass the Mic is that inspiration often appears in the most unexpected moments.

While traveling through a beachside city recently, I had the opportunity to pause and simply connect with people along the way. What started as a regular day quickly turned into two powerful reminders of why Lesson in Everyday exists.

Our first stop was at Firehouse Subs where we met a young woman named Mariah. She shared a few words about what inspires her to do what she does. Her message centered around perseverance — the determination to keep going even when life becomes challenging.

Listening to her speak was a reminder that strength and resilience show up in everyday people more often than we realize.

Later, while stopping by the beach, another unexpected conversation unfolded. We met Tim and Rita, a couple celebrating an incredible milestone: fifty years of marriage.

There was something beautiful about hearing them reflect on life together. When asked about self-care and the inspiration they would leave with others, their words carried the kind of wisdom that only time and experience can bring.

Moments like these are the reason Pass the Mic continues to grow.

Every person we meet has a story, a lesson, or a piece of encouragement that might uplift someone else.

But what many people may not realize is that these conversations inspire me as well.

As the host, I walk away from these moments encouraged by the honesty, resilience, and kindness people are willing to share. Hearing their truth and their perspective reminds me why it’s so important to keep creating space for these voices.

Their words fuel the mission.

Their stories strengthen the vision.

And their willingness to share keeps the light moving forward.

Pass the Mic is not just about asking questions. It’s about listening, learning, and allowing everyday people to remind us that hope, perseverance, love, and wisdom are all around us.

Sometimes the message we capture for others becomes the very inspiration we needed ourselves.

And that is what keeps me going.
