One thing I’ve learned through this journey with Pass the Mic is that life doesn’t always go exactly as planned.
Sometimes there are bloopers.
Sometimes there are mistakes.
Sometimes there are moments where things don’t flow the way we expected.
But those moments don’t define us.
They teach us.
Recently, while filming and sharing conversations, we had a few unexpected bloopers—moments that made us laugh, pause, and reset. And in those moments, a powerful message came to my heart:
Focus forward.
Not backward.
Not on the mistake.
Not on the shortcoming.
Forward.
Because every single one of us will experience setbacks at some point. We’ll miss a step. We’ll make an error. We’ll fall short of what we hoped for.
But the real strength comes from what we do next.
Do we stay down?
Or do we get back up?
That’s the lesson.
Get up when you have a shortcoming.
Get up when things don’t go your way.
Get up even when you feel discouraged.
And while you’re getting back up, remember to believe in yourself.
Believe that you are capable.
Believe that you can grow.
Believe that you can move forward, even after a setback.
Another powerful reminder that keeps showing up in these everyday conversations is gratitude.
Gratitude changes your perspective.
When you choose to be grateful, even in the middle of challenges, you begin to see life differently. You begin to appreciate the small victories, the lessons learned, and the strength you didn’t realize you had.
Through these conversations and experiences, I’ve come to understand that progress isn’t about perfection.
It’s about persistence.
It’s about continuing to show up.
Continuing to try.
Continuing to move forward.
Even when things feel messy.
Even when you stumble.
Even when you fall.
Because every shortcoming can become a stepping stone.
And every mistake can become a lesson.
So today, wherever you are in your journey, here’s your reminder:
Focus forward.
Get back up.
Believe in yourself.
Stay grateful.
You’re still growing.
You’re still learning.
You’re still moving forward.
And that is something to be thankful for.
Because the lesson is in the everyday. 🫶🏾
