There are stories that remind us of the strength of the human spirit—stories that show how life’s hardest moments can shape a greater purpose. During this week’s Pass the Mic Mobile Motivation with LA, we had the privilege of hearing from a veteran whose life journey transformed pain into purpose and experience into service.

The special guest is the proud owner of

Mr. TurkeyLeg, a local restaurant that has become more than just a place to eat—it has become a place of connection, healing, and community.

His story begins with service to our country. Like many veterans, he faced experiences during war that left lasting impressions on his life. Those moments shaped his perspective and strengthened his faith. Instead of allowing those experiences to define him in a negative way, he used them as motivation to build something meaningful.

That motivation led him to entrepreneurship.

Opening his restaurant was not just about serving food—it became a form of therapy, a way to heal, and a way to give back. Each meal served represents care. Each customer welcomed represents connection. Each conversation shared represents community.

Through his journey, he discovered that healing often happens when we serve others. What once felt heavy became purposeful. What once felt painful became productive. And what once felt uncertain became a testimony.

During the Pass the Mic conversation, he was asked a simple yet powerful question:

“What can you leave us that will inspire, encourage, and motivate?”

Without hesitation, his answer was clear:

Rely on God.

Those three words carry deep meaning. They remind us that faith can guide us through difficult seasons, strengthen us during transitions, and sustain us as we pursue purpose.

Today, his business stands as a symbol of perseverance and hope. It is a place where people gather not only for good food but also for fellowship, laughter, and encouragement.

The restaurant hosts karaoke every Thursday, creating an atmosphere of joy and connection, and continues to bring the community together through special events, including an upcoming gathering on May 2. The doors are open Tuesday through Saturday, welcoming anyone who walks in with warmth and hospitality.

This story is a reminder that our life experiences—no matter how challenging—can become stepping stones toward something meaningful. Healing can happen through service. Purpose can grow from pain. And faith can lead us forward.

As we reflect on this powerful testimony, let us remember:

Your journey matters. Your story matters. Your service matters.

And as always—

The lesson is in the everyday.
