In Part 2 of our skit, curiosity turned into action.
After seeing someone completely engaged in reading, the next natural question was simple:
“Where did you get that book?”
That question opened the door to a deeper conversation about growth, purpose, and staying committed to your personal journey.
Queen, Don’t Miss Your Climb was written to encourage readers to keep moving forward, even when life feels challenging. It reminds us that progress takes patience, perseverance, and faith.
And sometimes, the right book can become a guide along the way.
The little princesses in Queen Don’t Miss Your Climb
Have you ever seen someone so focused on a book that you had to ask, “What are you reading?”
That’s exactly what happened in our recent skit featuring two versions of me—yes, both played by me. One was deeply focused, turning page after page, while the other couldn’t help but notice how captivated she was.
Sometimes a good book will grab your attention in ways you don’t expect. It will challenge you, encourage you, and remind you that growth is a journey worth committing to.
That moment sparked a conversation about reading, learning, and staying dedicated to your personal climb.
And just like in the skit, curiosity is the first step toward growth.
Recently, during one of our Pass the Mic Mobile Motivation with LA moments, something a little different happened. Instead of passing the mic to someone else, I became both the host and the guest.
Yes, it was me—LaToya Jackson—answering the same question we ask everyday people in the community. And while the moment may make you laugh when you watch the clip, the message behind it carries a powerful reminder for all of us.
The question was simple:
What is one word you can give us to use in our everyday walk?
And what can you leave us that will be inspirational, motivational, or encouraging?
My word was:
Serve.
The Power of a Serving Heart
Serving is more than an action—it is a mindset and a way of life. It means showing kindness, offering help, and being present for others, even in small ways.
Sometimes we believe we have to do something big to make a difference, but serving can be as simple as:
Offering a smile Listening to someone who needs to talk Helping a neighbor Encouraging a stranger Giving your time to someone in need
These small acts of service can create big moments of joy.
Serving Brings Peace to Your Heart
One of the beautiful things about serving others is that it can shift your focus. When life feels overwhelming or when you find yourself stuck in your own problems, serving someone else can bring unexpected peace.
There is something special about seeing the happiness on another person’s face because of your kindness. That joy becomes contagious. It reminds you that your presence, your compassion, and your willingness to help truly matter.
Serving doesn’t just bless others—it blesses you too.
Serve with Joy, Not Obligation
A serving heart is not about feeling forced or pressured. It is about choosing to serve cheerfully and willingly.
Serve with love.
Serve with patience.
Serve with compassion.
Serve with joy.
When we serve from the heart, we create connections, build stronger communities, and spread encouragement in places that need it most.
A Reminder for Our Everyday Walk
As we continue our journey through life, let us remember to keep a heart that is ready to serve. Whether it’s at home, at work, in church, or out in the community, there is always an opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life.
You never know how one act of kindness can change someone’s day—or even their life.
So today, I encourage you to ask yourself:
Who can I serve today?
Final Encouragement
Serving others is not about perfection. It is about showing up with a willing heart.
Let us continue to uplift, support, and care for one another.
Let us continue to lead with kindness.
And most importantly, let us continue to serve with joy.
Because when we serve others, we create moments of peace, connection, and purpose—not just for them, but for ourselves as well.
Stay encouraged. Stay inspired. Keep serving with joy.

One thing I’ve learned through this journey with Pass the Mic is that life doesn’t always go exactly as planned.
Sometimes there are bloopers.
Sometimes there are mistakes.
Sometimes there are moments where things don’t flow the way we expected.
But those moments don’t define us.
They teach us.
Recently, while filming and sharing conversations, we had a few unexpected bloopers—moments that made us laugh, pause, and reset. And in those moments, a powerful message came to my heart:
Focus forward.
Not backward.
Not on the mistake.
Not on the shortcoming.
Forward.
Because every single one of us will experience setbacks at some point. We’ll miss a step. We’ll make an error. We’ll fall short of what we hoped for.
But the real strength comes from what we do next.
Do we stay down?
Or do we get back up?
That’s the lesson.
Get up when you have a shortcoming.
Get up when things don’t go your way.
Get up even when you feel discouraged.
And while you’re getting back up, remember to believe in yourself.
Believe that you are capable.
Believe that you can grow.
Believe that you can move forward, even after a setback.
Another powerful reminder that keeps showing up in these everyday conversations is gratitude.
Gratitude changes your perspective.
When you choose to be grateful, even in the middle of challenges, you begin to see life differently. You begin to appreciate the small victories, the lessons learned, and the strength you didn’t realize you had.
Through these conversations and experiences, I’ve come to understand that progress isn’t about perfection.
It’s about persistence.
It’s about continuing to show up.
Continuing to try.
Continuing to move forward.
Even when things feel messy.
Even when you stumble.
Even when you fall.
Because every shortcoming can become a stepping stone.
And every mistake can become a lesson.
So today, wherever you are in your journey, here’s your reminder:
