Sometimes the most powerful inspiration doesn’t come from a stage or a scripted moment. Sometimes it comes from everyday conversations with people who are simply living their purpose.
In this episode of Pass the Mic: Street Conversations That Inspire | Mobile Motivation with LA, I had the opportunity to connect with two incredible hairstylists who are also salon owners and entrepreneurs. What began as a simple conversation quickly turned into a moment filled with wisdom, encouragement, and inspiration.
One of the beautiful things about Lesson in Everyday is the reminder that everyone carries a story worth sharing. These women are not only talented in their craft but are also walking in purpose as business owners, creators, and leaders in their community.
During our conversation, I asked them to share words that could inspire or encourage someone watching. Their responses reflected the reality of entrepreneurship — perseverance, belief in yourself, and the courage to keep moving forward even when the journey feels challenging.
Building a business is not always easy. Behind every salon chair is a story of long hours, dedication, learning, and growth. Yet what stood out most in this moment was their willingness to encourage others along the way.
That is what Pass the Mic is about.
It’s about creating space for real voices, real experiences, and real encouragement from people we encounter in everyday life. You never know when someone’s words might become the exact motivation another person needed to hear.
Entrepreneurship often requires faith, resilience, and the ability to keep believing in the vision you carry. Listening to these women speak reminded me that inspiration is all around us when we take the time to listen.
At Lesson in Everyday, our mission is to highlight those moments — the conversations that remind us that wisdom is not reserved for a select few. It lives in everyday people, everyday stories, and everyday experiences.
Sometimes a simple question can unlock a powerful message.
And sometimes the person standing right in front of you has the encouragement someone else has been praying for.
That is the heart of Pass the Mic.
Because when we create space for people to share their voice, we also create space for hope, motivation, and connection.
And as always…
Because the lesson is in the everyday.

Sometimes inspiration shows up in places we least expect it.
During another Pass the Mic moment with Lesson in Everyday, I had the opportunity to stop by a local fitness center and connect with someone who was simply going about her day. Her name was Lulu, and she welcomed the moment with openness and authenticity.
At Lesson in Everyday, the heart behind what we do is simple. We believe everyday people carry powerful stories, wisdom, and encouragement that can uplift someone else.
So I asked Lulu a question we’ve been asking throughout this week:
“What can you share with us that will inspire, encourage, or motivate someone today to carry them through this moment or the week ahead?”
Her response was heartfelt and genuine. In that moment, it was a reminder that encouragement doesn’t always come from a stage, a microphone, or a platform. Sometimes it comes from a quick conversation, a shared smile, or a few thoughtful words from someone living their everyday life.
Moments like this are why Pass the Mic exists.
It’s about creating space for everyday voices to speak life, inspire hope, and remind us that we are not alone in our journey.
You never know whose words may carry you through the day.
And you never know when your own voice might encourage someone else.
Because the lesson is always in the everyday.

Today’s Pass the Mic moment felt especially meaningful.
Instead of meeting someone out in the community, I decided to start the week right at home—with family.
On this Sunday afternoon, I passed the mic to my 84-year-old grandfather, Willie Hubbard Senior.
There is something sacred about sitting with someone who has lived through decades of change, growth, challenges, and blessings. Their perspective carries weight because it has been tested by time.
I asked him a simple question:
“What words of inspiration or wisdom would you leave with us?”
And like many elders, his response didn’t come from theory. It came from experience.
Moments like this remind me that wisdom is not always found in books, podcasts, or motivational speeches. Sometimes it lives quietly in the voices of the people who raised us, guided us, and watched life unfold long before we arrived.
Lesson in Everyday exists for moments like this.
Moments where we pause long enough to listen.
Moments where stories become lessons.
Moments where wisdom is passed from one generation to the next.
Today wasn’t just about recording a video. It was about honoring legacy.
Because sometimes the greatest inspiration is sitting right beside you.
